New Collections: Luna Twilight

I was trying to avoid talking about this line, but now that it's everywhere, I just couldn't help myself. New Moon has not one but TWO tie-in cosmetic lines. The Luna Twilight makeup (click the photo to enlarge for a better look) was developed with the people behind DuWop, aimed at the more "mature" Twilight fans, and is being sold at Nordstrom; Volturi Twilight targets the younger set with less

Pretty in Pink: 12 Gorgeous Glosses

There's nothing like a great pink lippie to add a fresh pop of color to your summer look! I have a major soft spot for pink glosses; in fact, as I was going through my collection to write this post, it was difficult to narrow it down to 12. Check out my favorite pink lip glosses below, ranging from cotton candy to deep raspberry, in shimmer, cream, and plumping versions. What are your favorite

Gifts to Skip: DuWop Venom Rocks

I saw this set on Sephora's website and thought about including it in my Teen Gift Guide. 3 mini venom glosses! So cute! But then I saw DuWop Venom Rocks in the store and couldn't believe my eyes. These glosses are beyond tiny! Seriously, they are NOT mini size -- more like free sample size. Each one is only 0.05 oz.And the packaging -- again, while cute on the web -- looked chintzy and flimsy in

Mascara Blitz: DuWop Lash Venom

There's no denying that Lip Venom shook up the cosmetics industry; it jumpstarted the lip plumper craze and put DuWop on the map as an innovator. The brand has since capitalized on that reputation with leading edge products like Reverse Lip Liner and one of my personal favorites, Sub-Surface.Then they really started banking on the Venom name; there are now 5 varieties of Lip Venom for you to

7 Ways To Get Bronzed Legs...Without Self Tanner

Let's face it, even the most dedicated among us occasionally slack off in the faux tan department. And while our upper bodies tend to get some natural sun from daily activities, the legs are another story. If you're going for the overall pale look, fine -- but if the rest of you is even slightly sun-kissed, letting your legs return to their original fishbelly white in the summertime is a major

The Spy Who Loved Me

DuWop's latest, Doubleglow7, is an illuminating "face balm" meant to be worn under, over, or instead of foundation, to give skin a glowy, radiant look.It is a gateway drug for shimmer virgins. There are no large glitter particles, just a pearly, luminous swirl, and the peachy-pink color won't look garish or overly noticeable. Let's take a look at the various uses that DuWop recommends...Under

You Say You Want A Revolotion

With the plethora of beauty goodies that grace the pages of this blog every day (over 1,000 posts now!), there are some products that are truly worth revisiting every so often. It looks like I have a number of new readers these days, so how about an re-introduction to one of my all time favorite "Holy Grail" products?I first discovered a tinted moisturizer called DuWop Revolotion Face in an event

Reefer Madness: How to Rock a Coral Lip

Coral lipsticks have been popping up in many a collection these days, but fret not - they're not the hideous, blinding hues of yesteryear. Even though coral is so heavily associated with decades past - there was even a character named Coral in Cocktail, remember? - in its new incarnation it can actually look quite modern and fresh.I will admit wearing a coral lip is dangerous territory, though -

Best of Sephora: Lips

Part 3 in our recap of Sephora's 2007 "Best Of" winners! Click for Part 1: Complexion and Part 2: Eyes.Lip Gloss: NARS Lip Gloss in OrgasmNARS glosses have a fab texture and great shine, so this win comes as no surprise! Orgasm is a shimmering peachy-pink and true to the shade of the famous blush. It's not my favorite of the NARS glosses, though...that honor belongs to the Sweet Dreams/Harlow duo

Cool is the New Hot

Ah, the burning, stinging, eye-watering feeling of a lip plumper. Swipe one on and you can almost hear your grandmother telling your 8-year-old self that "sometimes it hurts to be beautiful" as the hot rollers got dangerously close to your tender little earlobes. Heh!For true masochists I highly recommend LORAC Lip Addiction in Super Hot, which I'm actually not sure you can even get anymore.

Raccoons eat garbage and have tails. You don't. Bronze Takes the Gold

Hypothetical situation: It's Monday morning, and you're ready to go back to work after a nice long weekend at the beach. You can't wait to brag to your coworkers about your fun in the sun, and show off your gorgeous golden tan and sunkissed cheeks, but there's one small problem - that golden tan is nonexistent, as are the sunkissed cheeks, and you're as pale as you were last February. You've been

The Great Mascara Hunt: DuWop Lash Lacquer

Many of you know that a few months ago, I became obsessed with purple eye makeup - not the scary kind, mind you, just a more exciting alternative to black. I discovered a deep eggplant eyeliner and a smoky plum cream eyeshadow, both from NARS, that satisfied me for the time being. The purple was a subtle but unexpected twist - pretty without making me look like I could be a backup dancer for

Below the Surface

As promised, I have begun collecting the items mentioned in my post from a few days ago (see Pick Up Sticks). First on the menu is a newbie from DuWop called Sub-Surface.To begin: I love DuWop. While their best-known offering, Lip Venom isn't my favorite plumper, it certainly did spark the craze, and the other products in the line are innovative, fun and functional (I am hooked on their tinted

Your Jet Lag is Showing

As you may know from my previous musings, I don't wear foundation, which is a bit of an oxymoron for a beauty addict, I reckon. The only "imperfection" I can't cover up with a little concealer is a smattering of freckles, and I really don't care to hide them. They are fading away, anyhow, due to my fondness for non-pore-clogging sunscreen and sunglasses that obscure nearly my entire face. But,
