Sensuous Skin, Even in the Dead of Winter

Ah! What's this I spy on the Estee Lauder site? Sensuous, in a dry oil spray! My dears, this has "holiday party" written all over it. I've already named Sensuous as one of my favorite fall scents, and now that it's available in a smooth, moisturizing body oil spray, it's even better. How can you beat a product that makes you smell sweet, keeps scaly winter skin at bay, and gives you a gorgeous

More Lip Pencils for Pink-Lipped People

To get the full background on my problem with lip pencils, click here to read this post from June. Bottom line, sometimes they're a necessity to help keep lip color where it belongs, and to extend its staying power. But most of the popular "nude" pencils look orange or muddy on me, so I sing to high heaven whenever I find one that's truly pink-toned. Like self-tanner, this is one of those topics

2009 Holiday Collections: Estee Lauder Solid Perfumes

Estee Lauder's limited edition solid perfumes are some of my favorite holiday items every year! (Click the image to enlarge and get a better look at the detail.) At least judging by the comments box, opinion seems to be split on whether they're tacky or beautiful - I have to admit that some of them are WAY too gaudy to ever end up on my dresser, but I just love admiring them. This year, I

2009 Holiday Collections: Estee Lauder Ultimate Red

Estee Lauder's 2009 holiday collection, Ultimate Red, is appropriately festive and sparkly, with smokey eyes, luxurious red lips, and soft, luminous skin. Both looks actually look a bit '80s to me, but in a good way; they're rich, bold colors. In the wrong hands, however, you could end up looking like an extra from the set of Dynasty. Deep plum eyes with red lips, and bronzey eyes with red lips?

The Girl with Kaleidoscope Eyes: Bright New Mascaras from Estee Lauder

When I think of brightly colored mascaras, Estee Lauder isn't exactly the first brand that comes to mind. Nevertheless, EL has launched a limited run of Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in five jewel-tone shades.Sumptuous Color is available in Amber, Amethyst, Garnet, Emerald, and Sapphire. Golden bronze Amber is definitely the tamest, while Emerald is probably the boldest. So of course, I

Six Deep, Delicious Fall Nail Colors

You know Fall has truly arrived when you find yourself tired of your Ballet Slippers mani, instead craving something dark and rich. It happened to me this week, and I started digging around for some shades that would satisfy this nail lacquer lust. Here, six winners:1. Estee Lauder Pure Color in Black Amethyst Don't be fooled by the kiddie-looking grape hue of the bottle! This deep purple shade

Mess(age) in a Bottle

Hot, sticky summer weather most certainly calls for a super-lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer. I had run out of my beloved DuWop Revolotion Face, but couldn't find a suitable alternative in my beauty closet, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. (A serious bout of insomnia helped, too.)I began with a bottle of Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF 15

Pretty in Pink: 12 Gorgeous Glosses

There's nothing like a great pink lippie to add a fresh pop of color to your summer look! I have a major soft spot for pink glosses; in fact, as I was going through my collection to write this post, it was difficult to narrow it down to 12. Check out my favorite pink lip glosses below, ranging from cotton candy to deep raspberry, in shimmer, cream, and plumping versions. What are your favorite

Estee Lauder Makes a Splash: 3 New Pleasures Flankers

This summer, Estee Lauder deconstructs the iconic Pleasures and introduces three splashes built around various notes of the original. Baie Rose Peony, Sandalwood Amber and Jasmine Violet come in massive 8.1 oz splash/spray bottles (think Marc Jacobs splash), as well as utterly cute floral box packaging.I've been test-driving Jasmine Violet ($52) and have been pretty impressed with the staying

Short and to the Point: Estee Lauder Duo-Tone Eye Pencil

Short and to the point. Literally. Estee Lauder's summer eyeliner offering, the Duo-Tone Eye Pencil in Aqua Teal, gives you just enough bright color to make your summer look pop.Just enough, because you only get half a stick of each shade. Why is this so smart? Well, when was the last time you actually ran out of an eyeliner that was any color besides brown or black? (OK, maybe navy and charcoal,

Warm by the Fire: Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang

Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang is a fragrance that evokes so much mood, wearing it anytime other than a cozy evening would just seem...wrong.This fragrance in the summer? Vile.Out in the sun? Blasphemous. While enjoying a glass of champagne? Nope.Along with a satiny party dress? Wrong, wrong, wrong. This is both its greatest strength and its biggest downfall. It's wearable, but not versatile

Mascara Blitz: Estee Lauder TurboLash

OK, first things first: I LOVE this mascara.Estee Lauder TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara, along with Lancome Oscillation, marked the dawning of a new day in the world of mascara. These mascaras are movers and shakers...literally. Both TurboLash and Oscillation use vibrating wands (that sounds rather dirty, doesn't it?) to banish clumps and deposit more color on your lashes.TurboLash ($32)

Holiday Collections: Estee Lauder Vintage Jewels

Estee Lauder's Holiday 2008 collection, Vintage Jewels, is a complement to the season's luxurious fabrics and "completes the impression of aristocratic elegance," with "smoky eyes composed of the unexpected combination of almost blacks and modern brights are complemented by glowing cheeks and warm ruby lips." Don't you just love that description? Snooty glamour! LOVE!The collection, currently

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, friends! Hope your Halloween night is filled with the ghoulish fun of your choice, whether it be the Halloween parade in the Village, partying it up in your sexy cop costume, or acting younger than you are and going trick-or-treating.As for me, I was going to dress up as Amy Winehouse but was too lazy to hunt down about 10 black wigs and some dirty ballet slippers, so I'll

Estee Lauder Sensuous: Over the River and Through the Woods

Estee Lauder's new fragrance, Sensuous, is quite a departure from the brand's usual floral staples like Beautiful and Pleasures, and staid classics like White Linen. It's a woody amber featuring a warm accord that's "fluid, warm, inviting and distinctly feminine," according to Karyn Khoury, SVP of Corporate Fragrance Development Worldwide at Estee Lauder Companies. So what does Sensuous smell like

Watch Your Mouth!

If you've ever had a sunburn on your lips, this post is for you. It's the worst, isn't it? Even if you apply your regular sunscreen to your lips, you manage to lick or rub it off pretty quickly...and then you're left with an exposed kisser that burns faster than a bug under a magnifying glass.Well, my fair-lipped friends, a new generation of SPF lippies has arrived to protect your pucker. If

The Fountain of Youth?

If you watched Barbara Walters' special on longevity last night ("Living to 150...Can You Do It?"), you heard about this amazing molecule called resveratrol, which acts on the genes that play a key role in the aging process. Resveratrol is found naturally in red wine - but the dose you're getting with your nightly glass is probably nowhere near enough to make a difference. So, it's currently

The Reincarnation of Azuree Soleil

In the summer of 2006, Estee Lauder Azuree Soleil Body Oil, part of the Tom Ford Collection, caused women everywhere (including me) to storm their local Lauder counters. This tropical, beachy scent was intoxicating - not too flowery, not too coconutty - just right. My friends and I loved it so much that the wood floors in our summer house were slick with it.Of course, like all coveted beauty
