Red Pepper Paste Tofu Soup - Gochujang Dooboo Jjigae - (??? ?? ??)
I have *not* been cooking lately. Whenever I get a scan, Im pretty much a ball of nerves until I get the results. Literally, life is on *hold* and I dont breathe again until I hear the words, All is clear and there is no evidence of disease. I know I shouldnt let these stupid scans run my life like that and Im hoping with more years under my belt, I will learn to control my emotions a

Spicy Crab Soup - (???)
I made this over the weekend, but I've been lazy to put it up. Like always, there are a variety of ways to make this dish, but I tend to cheat and buy the marinated crab at the K-markets. Why? Because it's already fully seasoned and all CLEAN and cut - bottom line, it saves me a lot of time. I would say this is roughly about 1 lb. of spicy crab. When the K-market has fresh ggot-gae (

Veggie Udon - ?? ??
The following is one of my "cheat" meals, meaning it's not completely from scratch. I make this a lot on lazy Saturdays and Sundays when I don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen. First bring 3 cups of water to a boil with a strip of dashima. Here's where I cheat. I add 3 TB of the udon sauce. It's quick, it's easy and tastes a lot better than

Anchovie Dwen-jang gook - (?? ???)
Tap. Tap. Tap. Are you still there? It seems just as I start to build up site traffic on this blog, I go on a hiatus. It's tough trying to keep up this blog sometimes...especially when I don't step foot into the kitchen for two weeks at a time. =P Also, I realized that every since I upgraded my camera (50D baby!) that I'm afraid to take it into the kitchen for fear it might get splashed on,

Clear Ojinguh Gook - (?? ????)
I know I've been gone a long time and I'm going to cheat and not even give a new recipe but something that I should have finished up long ago. It's crazy because I'm not working and my son is in preschool which means I have a LOT of time to myself. Yet, I feel busier than ever just going around and doing random things. I'm supposed to go back to work soon, but taking this last year off has

Al Tang - Fish Egg Soup - (??)
So I decided to make al tang today. I prefer to buy the FRESH al they sell in the banchan section of some of the bigger K-markets, but for some reason our local K-market stopped selling them sometime last year. Therefore, I'm forced to buy the frozen kind which always seems to burst open in the soup. =P Needed: 1 8oz. package of frozen pollack roe - It can be found in the frozen fish

Kongnamool Haejang Gook - ??? ???
If you live in the LA area and haven't yet eaten at Han Il Gwan, you must do so NOW. It is one of my favorite restaurants and their kongnamool haejang gook is TDF yummy. It's kongnamool, napa cabbage, peppers and RICE all in a dol sot (stone pot) piping hot with semi-spicy broth. It's so shi-wun-heh.___________________________________________________________________I had time to stop by the

Odeng Gook - (???)
Sunday is our grocery day. The MR, Munchkin and I get into the car and go to the K-market and STOCK UP for the rest of the week. I was orginally planning on making jap-chae today, but while we were at the grocery store the MR requested that I make odeng gook instead (since he drank yesterday). I still bought the ingredients for jap chae, so I will probably make it sometime this week...stay tuned!

Soo Je Bi w/Kimchi - ?? ???
I wanted to make something new tonight, so I decided to put a spin on an old classic. I love soo-je-bi, but hardly make it because I get sick of kneading the dough. Anyhow, normally I just use a basic anchovy broth to make soo-je-bi, but tonight I thought I would experiment and add some kimchi and other stuff. It never hurts to have a little spice in life~Needed:4 cups flour1 eggsalt and

Book-uh Gook - ???
The MR went out drinking with his buddies last night, so I thought I would make him some book-uh gook to cure his headache in the morning...Start by rinsing and draining some book-uh. Then cut up all the book-uh into 1/2 inch pieces. I used about 2 cups of it for today's breakfast. In a pot take some beef (that has been drained of it's blood) and saute it with a 1/2 tb of sesame oil, 3 tb of
