Taiwan-based motherboard maker Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has extended its production to include WiMAX and 3G modules targeting telecom service providers, according to the company. The company has obtained orders for WiMAX modules from carriers in Europe and will begin volume shipments in the first half of 2010, the company noted.
ECS also said it shipped 1.6 million notebooks and netbooks in the first half of 2009, accounting for 40% of its target of four million units projected for this year. The company is confident it will ship another 2.4 million units in the second half of the year.
