The Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) � an international strategic partnership of ICT companies and industry associations � has agreed a methodology for assessing the carbon emission-reduction potential of ICT solutions. Ericsson is a member of GeSI.
The latest Ericsson Tech Talk film features Christer T�rnevik, director of EMF Safety and Sustainability at Ericsson Research. He talks about the findings of the GeSI report, Evaluating Carbon-reducing impact of ICT, and an Ericsson White Paper, Measuring Emissions Right (Assessing the climate-positive effects of ICT).
"The method will be a useful tool while waiting for international standards to be completed," he says.
T�rnevik also outlines some of the earlier work conducted by Ericsson Research in identifying the emission-reduction potential of ICT solutions in areas such as m-health, e-commerce and virtual meetings.
