LG Electronics (LGE) plans to launch 25-30 new handsets in the Taiwan market in the next six months and aims to grab a 15% share of the local handset market with shipments reaching one million units in 2010, according to Finsen Chen, vice president of telecom business at LGE Taiwan.
LGE also plans to strengthen its cooperation with Taiwan-based telecom carriers to promote handset sales in 2010, in addition to its previous focus on channel sales, Chen said, noting that LGE has launched its new Chocolate-series BL40 and BL20 handsets in the local market in cooperation with Taiwan Mobile on an exclusive deal.
For the new handsets planned for the next six months, over 30% will be touch-enabled models and over 50% will support 3G technology, Chen added.
