Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions, today announced that its SingleRAN Dual Mode RRU3808 (RRU: Remote Radio Unit) and Super Mobile Softswitch MSOFX3000 products received InfoVision Awards from the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) at Broadband World Forum Europe (7-9 September 2009) in Paris.
"The IEC' s InfoVision Awards honour innovations that help advance the industry and deliver the promise of broadband," commented IEC President John Janowiak. "We' re pleased to recognise Huawei as an InfoVision awards finalist for its SingleRAN product Dual Mode RRU3808 and Super Mobile Softswitch MSOFX3000 in the category of New Product Concepts and Core Network Innovation and Advances, respectively" .
As part of its All-IP convergence strategy, Huawei' s SingleRAN solution enables operators to achieve full convergence of multi-mode wireless networks, whilst simultaneously providing end-users with multimode services in one network. It represents a major step towards an All-IP converged network as it enables, as it enables operators to simplify their network, protect network investments and increase business profitability. RRU3808, a component of SingleRAN, achieves UMTS/LTE dual mode with highly-flexible, green features. It enables smooth evolution from UMTS to HSPA, HSPA+, and/or LTE through software upgrade, and is the industry' s first SDR featuring RRU with dual-transmitter capability. Furthermore, with 2*2 MIMO (Multiply-Input Multiply-Output) in one module and dual transmitter, RRU 3808 can double the capacity, reach large coverage and greatly improve end-users' peak rate experiences without requiring additional bandwidth.
Huawei Super Mobile softswitch innovates in network maintenance, network security and cost-effective features, helping operators to lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), improve service quality, and boost transformation to an All-IP network. Based on industry-standard high performance and open ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) blade servers, Huawei' s Super Mobile Softswitch (MSS) MSoftX3000 can achieve a capacity of up to 10 million, and can help operators reduce 70% footprint and save about 75% energy. The innovative Intelligent IP Operation and Maintenance solution realises "customer experience-centred" management and creates a revolutionary way to perform IP network environment visualisation and intelligent management. These features and functions can help operators save both Capex and Opex and improve operational efficiency for operators. By real-time user data backup, non-interrupted automatic service recovery, the whole system' s availability is up to 99.9999% - effectively guaranteeing business continuity.
"We are honoured to be recognised for our contribution to advancement in the telecoms industry and to win this prestigious award again," said Mr. Edward Zhou, European Marketing Director,Huawei. "We will continue to deliver innovative and high-value solutions to facilitate customers' success, giving a boost to the industry and economic growth."
