Fall 2010 Collections: Smashbox Masquerade
The Smashbox Fall 2010 collection, Masquerade, is all about rich shades, metallics, and sultry glossed lips. I'm intrigued by the Liquid Liner & Lash Overlay, as it's the first time I've seen an eyeliner repurposed as a lash product. Smashbox suggests that you use it to add a touch of color to the tips of lashes after mascara application, and there's a section of the application wand that's

7 Ways To Get Bronzed Legs...Without Self Tanner
Let's face it, even the most dedicated among us occasionally slack off in the faux tan department. And while our upper bodies tend to get some natural sun from daily activities, the legs are another story. If you're going for the overall pale look, fine -- but if the rest of you is even slightly sun-kissed, letting your legs return to their original fishbelly white in the summertime is a major

A Tale of Two...Tinted Moisturizers
Testing out two new tinted moisturizers has made me feel terribly guilty about abandoning my beloved DuWop Revolotion, even for a few days. I really wanted to discover an alternative, just for fun, but both formulas left me totally underwhelmed.Let's start with Smashbox Sheer Focus. It's oil-free and has UVA/UVB SPF 15, and it feels great on the face. For me, that's where the positives end. The

Primer...You're Doing It Wrong
There's a certain product in my possession which, every time I pick it up, causes me to conjure up this mental image of a LOLcat coming to tell me off.Smashbox Filter With Dermaxyl Complex is the product in question. I have had it for nearly two years and haven't managed to use it up, which should tell you something. I wrote about it nearly two years ago, recently rediscovered it, and now find

Let's Get This O-ver With
So a couple of days ago I walked into Sephora for the first time in what seemed like ages, and the first thing I saw was Smashbox O-Gloss.This was not a good way to start off the new year.Remember O-Glow? Smashbox's gel blush that promised to "react with your personal skin chemistry to turn cheeks the exact color you blush?" I tried it (see the post here), and it turned my cheeks a garish shade

Shop Pink: Smashbox Blushing Pink Fusion Soft Lights
Is it bad that I want this just for the super cute pink brush? This October, snap up this fab duo from Smashbox, which includes Soft Lights powder in new Blushing Pink (love the pink ribbon logo on the lid!) and a special PINK Face & Body Brush #19. A portion of the proceeds will go to the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, a grassroots advocacy group dedicated to finding a cure.

Best of Sephora: Eyes
Part 2 in our breakdown of the "Best of Sephora 2007" winners!Eyeshadow: Smashbox Eye Shadow Trio in HeadshotThis is a great trio...versatile colors, nice texture, compact size. The brown color in this trio skews a little too orange on me, so I would have gone with one of the other nominees, Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Kitten. But, a worthy winner nonetheless!Mascara: DiorShowWell, I think you all

Looks, and Bronzers, Can Be Deceiving
See this compact over here?Looks like a regular old bronzer now, doesn't it? But what you can't tell from the photo is that it's actually a massively oversized pan intended for use on the body, and it has a secret...It's scented. This is the Smashbox Fusion Bronzing Body Powder Set (it comes with the kabuki brush shown), three stripes of glimmering bronze perfection. And they all carry the same

Stock-Up Alert!
You know I can't resist sets that give you a whole lot of goodies for not a whole lot of cash. They're a great way to stock up on items you might already use, build a well-rounded, versatile cosmetic collection, and get useful accoutrements (like brushes!) on the cheap. Two good ones that I've come across recently:The Smashbox Beauty Book gives you $181 worth of product for only $60, and includes

For This Girl, O-Glow = Day-Glo
What is it with all the "magic" color change products hitting the market these days? Are we entering the Second Age of the Mood Lipstick? First there was the Almay Smart Shade foundation (or more accurately, tinted moisturizer), and now there's O-Glow blush from Smashbox.I tried this little innovation this weekend (all of you who railed at me over the Almay piece, did you read that? I tried it!

Am I Crazy?
Last Saturday it was unseasonably, unbelievably, amazingly warm in New York. 70 degrees and sunny? In January? Could it be?I had just come off a particularly heinous 18-hour Friday workday and decided that some fresh air would do me good, so I set out to take a nice refreshing run along the Narrows. It was so warm out that shorts were quite obviously in order; however, I'd been lazy in my

Prime the Pump
It's no secret among beauty junkies that a good foundation primer can soften the appearance of lines, create an even canvas, and keep makeup looking fresh all day. Even if you go sans foundation, a primer will leave you with a smooth, matte finish. It's also no secret that Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is the hands-down favorite among makeup artists, beauty connoisseurs and bloggers alike (see Elke

Nice Stems
While walking over to Saks over lunch earlier this week, I had a minor celebrity sighting: Wendie Malick, better known as the neurotic aging model Nina van Horn from Just Shoot Me.At 55, she looked amazing - very skinny, very tall, very Upper East Side chic.Beauty Addict was envious of her legs and hopes to have toned stems like that when she hits 55.It's skirt weather now and time to buff up

Pick Up Sticks: Smashbox Filter with Dermaxyl Complex
A while back I started a little review project called Pick Up Sticks, which I thought to be a very clever name, as the products involved were (1) in stick form, (2) pick-me-ups for your face, and (3) things you should pick up immediately at the store.Smart, eh?After reviewing DuWop Sub Surface and Tarte Rest Assured, it's time to get the ball rolling again. Next up: Smashbox Filter with Dermaxyl

Pick Up Sticks
Four objects of desire for Spring:Benefit Color Plump. Fat little lip pencils that plump, moisturize, and shade! When it comes to plumping, somehow I feel better supporting Benefit than Randi Shinder. The Color Plumps come in 3 pinky neutral shades, perfect for spring.Smashbox Filter With Dermaxyl Complex. A clicky pen filled with the venerable Smashbox Photo Finish primer AND the new treatment
