Worst of Oscar Beauty!

It's a pretty good sign, overall, that I had a Top 10 Best for Oscar beauty, and only four in the bad category. Here goes:Reese Witherspoon: Oh dear. Dark blue eyeshadow is one of my all-time favorites, but it can go wrong far too easily. It looks odd with Reese's eye color, it's too matchy-matchy with the dress, and the peach lip color just ruins the whole thing. Click on the pic to enlarge and

Salma Hayek Lashes Out

Oops! Looks like Salma's makeup artist wasn't quite generous enough with the glue before sending her out onto the red carpet at the Indiana Jones premiere in Cannes. Look at her! She looks totally peeved. You know she could feel the faux lashes flapping about every time she blinked! And what a shame, too, because the rest of the face is just stunning...as usual.Don't let this happen to you, my

2007 Golden Globes: Back to the Makeup Chair for You!

Well, I guess not everyone can look good.Note to Tina Fey: when you have thin lips, the barely-there mouth route is not for you. Tina looks completely washed out here, and the matronly hair and inadequate blush don't help. There is also a cleavage problem which I will not discuss. She used to be the pretty one on SNL, and now she looks more like her costar Rachel Dratch (aka "Debbie Downer").It

Silly Celebrity Makeup: Blend, Blend, Blend Edition

Now this is just unfortunate. Who did this to you, Jennifer? Tell us, dear. We will hunt them down, confiscate their makeup kit and spray them in the eyes with Tabu. Please, pretty please, tell me it wasn't Scott Barnes.[via Perez Hilton, thanks Jessica!]

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

Star Jones needs to fire her makeup artist! Here she is at the Daytime Emmy Awards, with crazy, overdone, drag queen eyes. Who would go out of the house like this? Besides RuPaul, that is.Click here for a closeup of this hideous makeup job, if you dare. And here's another funny tidbit...on all the pictures of Star and hubby Al Reynolds, gettyimages.com refers to him as "Al Jones." The emasculation

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

So, Rachel Zoe takes much of inspiration from the look of "hard-partying 1970s rock stars and Studio 54 regulars."Well, it looks like she's finally achieved the totality of her dream, complete with the sun-damaged skin and premature wrinkles that plagued the hard-partyers, the clubbers and the sun-worshippers of the '70s. Bianca Jagger? OK. Mick Jagger? Maybe not a look a young woman wants to

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

What is going on with Sharon Stone these days? She is so pretty, but somehow ends up looking horrific at every public appearance. This is her second appearance of late in my cavalcade of Silly Celebrity Makeup. Last time we had the aging prom queen on crystal meth, now we have the aging beauty pageant contestant after a lifetime of 2 packs of Virginia Slims a day and too much peroxide.Notice the

More Silly Celebrity Makeup at the Oscars

Sharon, Sharon, Sharon. What have you done? Here we have Sharon Stone sporting the popular "Burnt Barbie Doll" look, complete with butterfly appliques on her shoulder, at a post-Oscar party. This is by far the fugliest of the fug.She looks like a trailer park mom on crystal meth and too much PBR in a can, who decided that digging out her old prom dress would be a brilliant idea.I predict that very

Silly Celebrity Makeup at the Grammys

Yolanda Adams. Should I know her? In any case, her makeup is heinous. Blue dress, ridiculous two-toned hair, and green metallic eyeshadow. Monstrous. I can't even think of anything else to say!Teri Hatcher. I wish I had an extreme close-up of this so you could see how awesomely bad it is. Well actually, you can just go check it out at The Superficial. But beware. It may not look bad from afar,

Silly Celebrity Makeup at the SAG Awards

Well, friends, it appears that the bad makeup was back in full force at last Sunday's SAG Awards. Let's take a look at the celebs who looked more ghastly than gorgeous:Connie Stevens. This is not the way to age gracefully (she is 67). Washed out neutrals, chalky skin, and too much shimmer on the eyelids, plus wild hair that looks like a bad wig - tsk, tsk, Connie. Maybe her "Forever Spring"

Silly Celebrity Makeup: Golden Globes Edition

I know I'm really late to the game on this, but since I was in Germany last week I didn't get a chance to watch the Globes; now that I'm all caught up, let's take a look at the cosmetic mishaps at the awards:Anne Hathaway. The bright red lips wash out the rest of her face, especially her eyes. It's hard to tell from this pic, but she's wearing white shimmery eyeshadow, which just disappears into

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

When you stand next to Tori Spelling and make her look good by comparison, I would say you're in pretty bad shape. Although I must admit this is a step up from Bai's bizarro makeup on "But Can They Sing?"

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

Well, friends, since Christmas Eve was on a Saturday there was no Silly Celebrity Makeup. But now it's time to get back in the swing of things. Here we have Toccara, formerly of America's Next Top Model, sporting bad bangs, overdone eyes, and seriously overlined lips. There are so many things wrong here, I am not even sure what to say without coming across as overly mean. I think "Star Jones Drag

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

The man who brought us the Stella bag and the coolest Mary Janes ever now brings us the latest in Livestock Couture...the pig costume. Here is Marc Jacobs in full pig regalia at his own western-themed holiday party (ok, so this not exactly Silly Makeup...but it is a facial accessory, so it counts). Hopefully he will not start showing porcine-inspired hats next season. Marc's designs suddenly

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

Is this not the worst picture ever taken of Brooke Shields? The hair! The skin! The eyebrows! For Pete's sake, Brooke, we love your full brows, but how about something to keep them in place? Otherwise you just look like Leonid Brezhnev. Don't let that happen to you, Brooke! Get thee to a Sephora, woman, and immediately purchase Smashbox Brow Tech in Smashing Brunette. The brow powder fills in (

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

Sorry this is late this week - I was busy doing something quite fun yesterday that I will talk about in an upcoming post. Anyhow...let's get to it! OK, so maybe it's not exactly makeup, but it's on the face, so I say it counts! Ashley Olsen is lookin' mighty dorky in these oversized frames. Someone should tell her that oversized is only cool for sunglasses. Definitely not for reading glasses.

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

The Redneck Woman, Gretchen Wilson, sure lived up to her name at the Country Music Awards. Will someone please tell her that the visible lipliner look went out with the 90s, when bands like Warrant stopped making videos with overly made-up babes? In fact, it may have only ever been popular here in Brooklyn, where we lined our lips with a dark brown liner called Spice (not the MAC Spice) and

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

She's baaaaack. The barefoot, Red Bull-guzzling, Cheeto-eating, messy-ponytailed queen of pop, none other than Britney Spears. Now I understand that she's a new mom and surely doesn't have time to do her hair and makeup, but for pete's sake, wash your face before you leave the house! Mrs. Federline appears to be wearing the remnants of yesterday's makeup (and the leftovers of yesterday's hair,

Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week

Come on, how long did you think I could wait before selecting Paris for Silly Celebrity Makeup of the Week? Here she is on Halloween, dressed as a grown-up, slutty Pebbles Flintstone, with her sister Nicky the Sexy Cop. Nevermind the underboob peeking out of her costume, let's take a look at the grotesque contrast between her body and her face. Paris, next time you decide to slather yourself
