The Most Expensive Thanksgiving Dinner

The Arabic Rood Recipes Kitchen presents The Most Expensive Thanksgiving Dinner!!!

The cost of the average Thanksgiving dinner is around $45. Thats for ten people, and it includes dessert. But that $45 wouldnt have gotten you very far at Cafe Grays infamous Thanksgiving dinner in 2006. Dinner for 12 at their chefs table was prix fixe at $10,000. Thats about $833 a head, compared to the average Americans $4.50 a head.

To call this legendary event a dinner, however, is somewhat misleading. Thanksgiving Day at Grays began with a breakfast of cornflake-crusted french toast, scrambled eggs, brioche, bacon, and a viewing of the famous Macys Day Parade on giant plasma screens. I think its a little bizarre to watch the parade on TV when youre actually in New York City and can just step outside and see the whole thing firsthand, but I guess you get a lot more elbow room kicking back at the chefs table.

Around noon, Chef Gray did a personal turkey-carving demonstration, and then the brasserie bar opened to serve hors doeuvres to football fans, who watched NFL games on the bespoke plasma screen TVs. Dinner began with a salad of fennel and blood oranges, drizzled in a poppy seed vinaigrette. Next came truffled butternut potage and lobster and crabmeat gratin, followed by an organic lemon-thyme roasted turkey. Finally, for dessert there was pumpkin custard, key lime pie, and something called million dollar pie. Im not sure whats in million dollar pie, but the name seems a fitting end to a meal that costed over eight bills a head.

The World's Most Expensive Pizza

The Arabic Rood Recipes Kitchen presents to you the World's Most  Expensive Pizza.

Pizza is one of the staples of the modern American diet, especially amongst the young and the lower class. Its generally regarded as a cheap and convenient meal with more going for it than its fast food competition. So when we heard about chef Domenico Crollas Pizza Royale 007?, we were quite shocked. It didnt seem likely that someone would have set out to make the worlds most expensive pizza when usually pizza is such a low budget meal.

The 12 inch pizza pie is densely packed with an assortment of some of the worlds most expensive food ingredients, such as lobster marinated in cognac, caviar soaked in champagne, sunblush tomato sauce, Scottish smoked salmon, venison medallions, prosciutto, and vintage balsamic vinegar. In addition to all these fine ingredients, its topped with a significant amount of edible 24-carat gold flakes.

Mr. Crolla originally claimed that the novelty luxury pizza was worth some $3,700, and he would auction it on eBay and donate the proceeds to The Fred Hollows Foundation. The Fred Hollows Foundation is a UK organization that seeks to eradicate avoidable blindness in developing countries. The auction ended November 19, 2006 with the highest bid by Italian lawyer Maurizio Morelli reaching 2,150 (approx. $4,200 in US dollars). Morelli is a charitable food connoisseur from Rome who also collects fine wines and truffles. The Guinness Book of World Records is reviewing the details of the pizzas sale and it is under consideration for taking the record for Worlds Most Expensive Pizza from a less extravagant white truffle pizza created by Gordon Ramsays Maze restaurant in London.

Most Expensive Bread

Harrods, Londons premier department store, now carries a most luxurious loaf. Britains most expensive bread and, if you believe some of the hype surrounding it, the most expensive bread in the world, the Roquefort and Almond sourdough is created with some of the finest ingredients money can buy.

Master baker Paul Hollywood, creator of the bread, calls it the Rolls-Royce of loafs. The bread, which contains no additives and no artificial flavors, is made with grade A flour from a specialist miller and Frances finest Roquefort cheese.

The bread, recognized as Britains most expensive by the National Association of Master Bakers, will be sold at Harrods for 15 (US $24.50). They expect the bread will do particularly well during the holiday season.

Worlds Most Expensive Baked Potato

The baked potato may not be the most healthful item on your plate but, thanks to chef Ben Kingdon of The Cary Arms, it could be the priciest.

The Cary Arms is The Inn on the Beach in the coastal town of Torquay in Devon county, England. Its there that Kingdon produces the gastropub food for which the inn is knownincluding the most expensive baked potato in the world.

The 24-year-old chef refers to this delicacy as the tuxedo spud, as a baked potato is known in Great Britain as a jacket potato. The potatos flesh has been mixed with creme fraiche, lemon, chives and spring onions, and topped with caviar. Sides include balsamic-roasted vine tomatoes and a side salad, served with the potato on a wooden board. The dish is served with a glass of champagne.

The expensive potato is priced at 40US $60. Unfortunately, only one was ordered in the two weeks after its debut.
