HTC Announces Centenary HTC Dream Capsule Project to Celebrate The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of theRepublic of China
To inspire the passion and dreams of Taiwan's youth
Taipei, Taiwan HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile phone innovation and design, announced the launch of the HTC Dream Capsule Project in partnership with the Council for Cultural Affairs, the Republic of China Centenary Foundation and advertising guru Jerry Fan as part of a unique and creative approach to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
To mark this historic occasion, HTC will invite Taiwanese youth of all ages to express their hopes, dreams and visions of the future in writing. These dreams in writing or drawing will then be placed in specially designed dream capsules and opened in the future.
In order to highlight the significance and uniqueness of this project, HTC has created a unique vision for the dream capsules, which will become the building blocks of a dream tunnel measuring 400 meters in length and 5 meters high that will stand to represent the dreams and hopes of the Taiwanese people. The dream tunnel will be the heart of a Forest of Love comprising 100,000 trees that will form a 25 hectare world-class public park that will be a major contributor to Taipei's environment and air quality.
The 100th year of our founding is the proudest moment for all of Taiwan's 24 million citizens, and HTC, which is blazing a trail as one of the leading innovative brands in the world and is also one of the proudest examples of Taiwan's business leadership, said Vincent Siew, Vice President of the Republic of China and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Centenary Celebrations of the Republic of China. We are pleased to partner with HTC to launch the HTC Centenary Dream Capsule Project that will inspire an even brighter future for the next generation and make people around the world sit up and take notice of Taiwan.
We are pleased that HTC is working with us to create this significant social project for the welfare of the Taiwanese people, on the momentous occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of this country, said Dr. Emile Sheng, Minister, Council for Cultural Affairs, Republic of China. The HTC Centenary Dream Capsule project will inspire Taiwanese youth to reach for their dreams with greater passion and drive and I would like to extend my appreciation to Peter Chou, CEO of HTC and his company for this meaningful dedication in Taiwan.
Passion and dreams are the most important essentials that our youth can possess and everyone should dare to dream, believe in themselves and be the best that they can be, said Peter Chou, CEO, HTC Corporation. HTC exemplifies Taiwan's indomitable spirit and world-leading innovation capabilities, and our global achievements are the result of our Taiwanese roots. We are confident that the HTC Centenary Dream Capsule project will inspire Taiwanese youth to pursue their dreams with greater fervor and innovation. As Taiwan celebrates the 100th year of it's founding, we should continue to look towards the future, and build a solid foundation for the next phase of Taiwan's continued evolution.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 vs HTC Desire Z pics
Here are some pics comparing the Sony Ericsson X10 and the HTC Desire Z. The boxes are the same slide out style. The finish on the X10 box is slightly nicer but the box of the Desire Z is more solid. As I mentioned in my previous post, the X10 is lighter and thinner but just a tad larger in surface area. The Desire Z feels way more solid and well built in the hand because of the metal. The X10 has the advantage of the larger screen but I found the Desire Z's super LCD just brighter, sharper and more colorful. It also has better visibility in direct sunlight. I found the Desire Z's screen also more responsive. The X10 also has problems with the unresponsiveness at the edge of the screen. In terms of performance the Desire blows the X10 away...not only in benchmarks but also in normal usage such as apps, gales and just flicking through the UI. HTC Sense is just gorgeous and was more useful and fluid than Sony Ericsson's UXP. The camera of the X10 is slightly better than the Desire Z. The keyboard makes the Desire Z thicker and heaver but having a hardware keyboard makes typing long emails a breeze plus I use it as a controller for my beloved emulators. In conclusion, I am happy that I am switching over from Sony Ericsson to HTC. Perhaps Sony Ericsson's future flagship Android phones will lure me back. As much as I love Sony Ericsson...the Desire Z is just simply better.

HTC Desire Z unboxing pics
Here are some unboxing pics of my new HTC Desire Z. The last phone that I bought was the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i over half a year ago. The X10i was kinda boring since the bootloader is still uncracked to this day. Although, excellent progress has been made by the talented folks over at XDA. The X10 has gained the ability to have a custom recovery and customs roms. Anyways, back to the Desire Z. The box is the usual HTC standard like the HTC Hero box which I had about a year ago. The phone came with the usual standard stuff. My first impression of the phone coming from an X10 was that is feels heavier and thicker but it feels way more solid and well built than the X10. The metal feels great in the hand as compared to the shiny cheap looking plastic of the X10 (not that the X10 is a bad looking phone). The Desire Z just feels totally different. I like the optical trackpad and the battery cover the opens via a sswitch. Now on to the keyboard...the keyboard is awesome...definitely way better than the Milestone which I had 9 months ago. I like how the screen almost sits flush with the keyboard thanks to the Z hinge design. The hinge is kinda loose so if you hold it in certain positions the two halves will seperate...however it doesn't interfere with my normal usuage of the phone. The screen is bright colorful, sharp and responsive. I am definitely impressed by the Desire Z.

In the network appeared the official images of [smartfona] T -Mobile G2 (HTC Of vision). We already wrote in the news about this device, were published its photographs. T -Mobile G2 will become the first model of this American operator with the support of new high-speed honeycomb networks HSPA+. In Europe the analog of this model will also leave by the name HTC Of desire Z. according to preliminary data, this [smartfon] in the form factor of slider with 3,7- one inch AMOLED-[tachskrinom] and QWERTY- keyboard. T-Mobile G2 to Pack Android 2.2 Froyo, Qualcomm "Scorpion" CPU
Unfortunately this Scorpion doesn't pack much sting
If you're determined to get an Android slider on T-Mobile, then perhaps the upcoming T-Mobile G2 is the phone for you. However, its specs may change your mind.
The company's insider newsletter T-Mobile Scoop reveals that the HTC Vision, aka the T-Mobile G2, will be using an 800 MHz MSM7x30 chip. That chip uses the Qualcomm's Scorpion ARM CPU, also found in the 1 GHz Snapdragon.
The lower clock speed seems like a bit of a blow. But when you factor in that the 1 GHz Snapdragon crunched approximately 2.5 times less frames than the Samsung 1 GHz Hummingbird (a Cortex A8) in the GLSBenchmark, it appears even worse, given that the CPU core appears to have certain design shortcomings in the first place.
The good news is that the slower CPU will at least be somewhat offset by the operating system; the G2 will run Android 2.2 "Froyo" (which notably comes packing Flash 10.1). As we previously discussed, Froyo brings a Just-in-Time Java compiler to the table, which allows Android applications to run up to five times faster. Thus even this slow CPU may be capable of some decent performance.
Reportedly HTC isn't going to lay the Sense UI on top of this particular Froyo build. That should offer better performance, and either improved or deteriorated usability, depending on your perspective on HTC Sense. T-Mobile does brag that the phone will include "one-touch quick keys" to quickly access key functions.
The G2 has a couple of key advantages -- namely, that it has a physical keyboard, it's T-Mobile's first HSPA+ phone, and that it's on one of the most appealing networks in terms of contractual obligations and price. However, in the face of phones like the Epic 4G and HTC EVO 4G -- also on a well-priced network -- the G2 faces some stiff competition.

T-Mobile G2 Running On New MSM7X30 Chipset: Native 720P 30FPS Recording And Playback, Better 3D Performance And More
Based on a tweet by Cyanogen, the G2 isnt going to be sporting another rehash of the Snapdragon family of chipsets that has come to dominate HTC devices for the past 6 months.
You may remember back in November of 2009 (or maybe not, I didnt) that Qualcomm demoed an updated family of chipsets for mobile multimedia devices. The name of that chipset is the remarkably catchy MSM7X30 (really has a ring to it, no?), and its bringing a little more to the table than its predecessors.
We already knew the G2 would be shipping with HSPA+ connectivity (the first phone to have it), but thats only one of the goodies Qualcomms upgraded chipset will be offering:
720P video encoding (recording) and decoding at 30FPS
Integrated 2D/3D GPUs with OpenGL ES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 API support
5.1 surround sound output
Up to 12 megapixel camera support
Integrated GPS
Support for processor speeds between 800MHz and 1GHz (Scorpion CPUs, same as Snapdragons)
All of this considered, the G2's spec sheet could really cause some heads to explode. Aside from what weve listed, Qualcomm is also touting that it is one of their most power-efficient chipsets. The new GPU could make the G2 the must-have gaming phone among Android devices, perhaps even besting the currently 3D-frontrunner, Samsungs Galaxy S.
All of this information is derived from what we know of Qualcomms chipset, though. The actual specs of the G2 may vary, depending heavily on HTCs work to integrate the chipsets new features into the Android OS. Only time will tell, but this beats the next-to-absolutely-nothing we knew about the G2's spec sheet just yesterday.

Orange: FroYo Android 2.2 update for HTC Desire delayed
Uh-oh! Oranges official representative on Twitter has just issued a little bit of bad news for HTC Desire owners who bought their phones through the network the Android 2.2 update for the popular Android phone has been pushed back until mid-September.
Apparently theres been a delay in getting the update from HTC, whatever that may mean. Someone didnt check their emails? Heres the little announcement:
Android fans there has been a delay in receiving the 2.2 Froyo update from HTC, & we now expect it to be available mid-Sep. Apologies
And as a quick follow up:
would like to point out the delay on 2.2 Froyo is not related to Orange services on the device

Review of HTC Wildfire GSM/UMTS Smartphone
Mobile-review have posted a review of the HTC Wildfire. Here are the phone's specifications and their final impression.
I do not have any complaints to the signal reception quality. The loudspeaker is above average and in the majority of cases you will hear the ringtone. The speaker volume and vibro are average, though I occasionally missed the latter on the go.

Priced at $422 HTC Wildfire is interesting, but equally controversial. Its doubtless advantages include good body, high quality materials, universal design to suit a business person and a student (you cannot say the same about plastic LG Optimus). Another high point is operation time. The only disadvantage is the screen and it serves as the main factor during the choice. If the screen looks normal to you and its low resolution is not an issue I can definitely advise Wildfire. Alternatively, if its screen makes you depressed and you cannot get images of WVGA out of your head, another model should be bought instead.
I will add some personal impressions. I have been using HTC Wildfire as my main phone for a month after switching from HTC Desire. Owners of WVGA devices will understand me, because it is extremely difficult to downgrade after WVGA experience. Nevertheless, after several days of withdrawal syndromes I got accustomed to Wildfire and its screen. A habit of web pages scaling took more time to develop.
