Acer recently increased its forecast for 2010 handset shipments to three million units from two million units, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. First-quarter shipments were 250,000 units.
Acer is optimistic about sales of its Android-based Liquid smartphone and will exhibit a series of new models at Computex 2010 in June, the paper added.
In related news, the paper quoted Acer chairman JT Wang as saying that the company has completed integration of its Smart Handheld Business Group (SHBG) with its computer business group. The SHBG was formed following Acer's acquisition of E-Ten Information System in 2008.
