According to representatives of Panasonic, this increase was achieved through the use as anode material for the manufacture of nickel and application of new technologies to increase the density of charge. In addition, the company's engineers have made some effort, to increase the safety of batteries. Between the cathode and the anode there is now a layer of metallic oxide, the so-called Layer Heat Resistance Layer, which prevents overheating of the battery, even in the case of short circuit. Thus, Panasonic claims that their batteries will no longer have such unpleasant possibilities as an explosion.
