Verizon Wireless Supports Commerce Chairman Rockefeller's Efforts To Ban Texting While Driving

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. Verizon Wireless Vice President and General Counsel Steven E. Zipperstein said the company supports legislation introduced by U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John (Jay) D. Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) to effectively ban texting and e-mailing while driving.

Zipperstein made the following statement:

Verizon Wireless endorses federal legislation to ban texting and e-mailing while driving, and we support Chairman Rockefeller, as well as Sens. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tx.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) for championing this important issue. As the largest wireless service provider, we launched a national ad campaign just this week to bring that message home. Drivers should keep their hands on the steering wheel and off their keypads.
