Market MVNO in Russia

Analytical company J'son & Partners Consulting presented the results of the study �MVNO in Russia and the world: opportunities and limitations�. Thus, at the end of 2008 in Russia MVNO subscriber base surpassed 330 thousand and reached 0.2% of the total subscriber base of cellular operators [187.6 million].

At the end of 2008, the leaders in terms of subscriber base were such �experimental� MVNO-projects like �Hello ?????????�, MATRIX and Corpolink. All of them, as well as �Gars Telecom�, BAZA and �E� are �telecom� origin, for example, intellectual context, under the brand �Hello ?????????� provided by the telecommunications company �KantriKom�. The project �Alternative� designed by �A1: First Alternative Content Provider�, a virtual operator �Euroset� created by the same largest retail seller of mobile phones. In the first quarter of 2009 was started 2 new projects: �A-Mobile� (MTS and a network of hypermarkets Auchan) and �Just for communication� (Megafon). In a short time of existence of these projects have shown a rapid set of subscriber base: �Just for communication�, as of mid-May - more than 100 thousand subscribers, �A-Mobile�, to assess the J'son & Partners Consulting, connected more than 70 thousand subscribers .

The emergence of content-oriented MVNO to be expected as early as 2009 - 2010 years. These companies will focus on the premium segments of users, which will offer high-added services. Potential candidates in this segment - the content providers and aggregators, and media companies. According to the forecasts of J'son & Partners Consulting by 2012 the proportion of MVNO subscribers in total subscriber base of cellular operators to reach 2.3%.
