Taiwan-based WiMAX operator Tatung InfoComm plans to bring in strategic partners through a capital expansion project soon. Market sources have identified Intel as one of the potential investors, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
The planned capital expansion project will see Tatung InfoComm's registered capital increase to at least NT$2.1 billion (US$64.6 million) from the current NT$1.1 billion, the paper quoted Wei-shan Lin, chairman of the Tatung Group, as saying.
In other news, Tatung InfoComm has stepped up its purchasing of WiMAX CPE products from Taiwan-based network equipment makers in preparation for its planned launch of WiMAX services in the southern port city of Kaohsiung on July 7, according to the company.
The company's WiMAX CPE suppliers include Zyxel Communications, D-Link and JStream Technologies, the company noted.
