Computex 2009: Taiwan WiMAX licensees showcase expanded WiMAX applications

Taiwan-based WiMAX licensees are showcasing an array of WiMAX CPE (customer premise equipment) products at the ongoing Computex 2009, including a WiMAX-enabled robot, the RoLA, displayed by Vmax Telecom, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

The robot RoLA, which is co-developed by Vmax, Tecom and National Chiao Tung University, is designed for distance monitor and interactive video therapy via WiMAX, said the paper.

Meanwhile, Global Mobile is displaying WiMAX MID and IAD (integrated access device) products from Foxlink and WiMAX-enabled netbooks built using VIA Technologies' Nano CPUs, as Vee Telecom Multimedia is showcasing a WiMAX e-book rolled out by Inventec Appliances, the paper said.
