China market: China Telecom signs CDMA chipset cooperation agreement with VIA Group, says paper

China Telecom has signed a cooperation pact with the VIA Technologies Group, aiming to develop CDMA 2000 handsets using chipset solutions from VIA's subsidiary, VIA Telecom, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.

The cooperation is likely to drive down prices of CDMA 2000 handsets by more than 10% in the China market which will help China Telecom expand its CDMA subscriber base, the paper indicated.
