I went for a quick breakfast hunt this morning with the dad and family from out of town. WOW.... Ipoh is PACKED! the hawkers were out full swing; dishing out their famous fare; most of them selling out within a couple of hours. The hungry tourists were spilling out the sides of dim sum joints and lines of tables were spread out along the sidewalks. Undeniably; everyone comes home to Ipoh for the food. We speak about lunch at breakfast; dinner at lunch..and discuss whats for supper at the dinner table! haha It's a funny habit us Ipoh-ians have developed.
Whilst running errands with mom on new years eve; I spotted a quaint little old time confectionery and bakery in the city. It brought back many memories.
I couldn't help but to go in and spend a fair bit on sis and I's childhood favourites.
I'm sure us kids from the 80's and 90's can relate to these being sold in school and night markets. After having been exposed to world class pastry and understanding ingredients in baked goods from cookies to candies... I have to admit; these seem to have taken a back seat in terms of flavour; though the nostalgic feeling they give me will always remind me to stay true to my roots.I'm so glad I've gotten my New Year orders and deliveries done early this year. Thanks everyone for being so understanding. It's nice to have a the opportunity to spend my New Year cake/cookie free.
Happy CHinese new yEAR MALAYSIA + and the rest of the world :)Take a moment to celebrate your culture and heritage today. Enjoy the local fare! Take a gaze at favourite corners of your hometown! Devour a piece of homemade family secret filled with love!

Love and well wishes;
