I never really took much notice of the Yankee Candle Home Classics line at Target (what's the point when you can just go to Yankee Candle?). But now, spending half my time in a place that doesn't have Yankee Candle...well, you always want what you can't have, right? So, I decided it was high time to take a look at the Target offerings.
The pricing is close to the original Yankee line ($25 for

Fresh "Eat, Pray, Love" Collection
Fresh has launched a fragrance collection as a tie-in to the upcoming Julia Roberts movie Eat, Pray, Love which is, of course, the film adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's wildly popular travel memoir. Judging by the reception of both the book and the film trailer, Fresh's Eat Pray Love collection will be either embraced or ridiculed, depending on who you ask.
Eat is a "sweet, effervescent" scent

Holiday Scents that Mind the GAP
Remember that incredible Holiday candle from the Gap? It was SO good! Every year I'd rush in there are buy everything they had in the Holiday scent, both for myself and or gifts. That dark red glass was unmistakable; when you saw one in someone's home, you'd exchange a knowing glance and a little nod. It was just that good! Even staunch anti-Gappers who would be loath to enter a store for any

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween, friends! Hope your Halloween night is filled with the ghoulish fun of your choice, whether it be the Halloween parade in the Village, partying it up in your sexy cop costume, or acting younger than you are and going trick-or-treating.As for me, I was going to dress up as Amy Winehouse but was too lazy to hunt down about 10 black wigs and some dirty ballet slippers, so I'll

Home Fragrance That's Just Right
When it comes to home fragrance, I feel like Goldilocks. Reed diffusers are pretty, but tend to have poor throw. Room sprays don't last and need to be re-sprayed frequently...too much effort for me. Candles are nice, but require monitoring; I'm always worried about falling asleep or leaving the house without blowing them out. Where's my "just right?"It would seem that some kind of safe, automatic

Because Fabric Softeners are Fragrances, Too
Last weekend I was relaxing in the Hamptons with my friend B, looking out over the water, enjoying a bottle of excellent Sauvignon Blanc and discussing...fabric softener. Yes, fabric softener! So chic, right? Heh.Anyhow, the reason we were discussing this scintillating topic was that I had just opened my weekend bag and couldn't stop sticking my face into my clothes. Not only were they incredibly

Catching Up With Tocca
Tocca is one of my all-time favorite candle brands...if you peek around my apartment you're likely to find at least one Tocca candle in every room (even the kitchen), and probably a few in the cabinets, too.Despite my loyalty to the brand, though, I managed to miss a few crucial new releases:Montauk Candle: What? A candle named for my favorite NY vacation spot and I wasn't there the day it hit

The Nose Knows
I first spotted these Lladro candles (yes, the porcelain figurine company) at Colette in Paris and was immediately drawn in by the Dali-esque nose carved into the front of the vase. These would be right at home in a modern abode, don'tcha think? They're weird, but in a subtle way. The hand-carved white porcelain vases are refillable, and the candles are available in 6 lovely scents, from

Plant Lavender By Your Garden Gate
First off, can you name the movie from which I stole the post title? This one's a toughie.Secondly, I'm not even going to respond to the recent comments about my absence (see comments on the last post, people can get so wound up, it amazes me). But I will say that I was away from home for a few days, and when I finally walked through my front door I was greeted by the most lovely lavender scent,

Marc Jacobs in Your Living Room
Marc Jacobs Home. Yum. I wonder if this will have the same effect as the MJ Cucumber we discussed recently? (See the Vegetables are Sexy post...it was one of the most popular of the summer!)In any case, I'm looking forward to having my home scented by my favorite fashion brat, so I'm definitely snapping up a bottle. But deciding between the Room Spray with the fab fabric atomizer and the chic

Home Fragrance for the Connoisseur
No Glade Plug-Ins for you, my friend! There are just too many gorgeous, divinely-scented candles out there for you to skimp and go for a one-note drugstore brand. Sometimes I wish I had more rooms in my house so I could scent each one differently! Some (this is by no means a comprehensive list) of my favorites:Tocca Candle Collection: These burn for 60 hours and are elegantly packaged in clear
