Hawai'i: Satura Cakes, Cleaning House

Strawberry Shortcake from Satura Cakes

Have been in Hawai'i for four days already! Cannot believe how quickly time flies. We moved into our new home the night I arrived (after kaiseki dinner at Hakkei, of course, hehe). I've spent the last few days packing up our old home, moving, and unpacking into the new one. And cleaning! Oh man, you would not believe how much cleaning there is to do.
The Kitchen, sorry so messy, we are still moving!

And what's even worse (or better, depending on how you see it ;)...no internet connection at home and my cell phone has no reception because we are too deep into the mountains. Haha. So once we arrive home, I am officially cut off from the world.
To get internet, I drive down to Satura Cakes in Ward where there is not only free wifi, but great cakes and coffee. One Thai Tea Latte ($3.95) and one Japanese-style Strawberry Shortcake ($3.95) and a big table with lots of electric outlets to plug in your laptop, whew! They are super friendly here and don't care if you stay for hours. I will be here a lot during this trip...or at least until we get internet at home.
When not working at Satura Cakes, I'm either eating or back up in the mountains cleaning. It's not a one-family affair - we've hired a cleaning crew, and yet there is much to do. I am in charge of cleaning the kitchen and it's pretty cool!
In the kitchen, we have a drawer for JUST saimin. This is the Japanese saimin section, and we have other sections for local saimim, Chinese saimin, and Korean saimin. Our family eats quite a bit of saimin...
...in fact, dad just made us some for breakfast this morning!
These are the drawer for plates and bowls...love the organization system dad planned out.
Kitchen opens out into the living room area. Again sorry for the mess, I hope to get this all cleaned up before I have to fly back to NYC!!
