Socialtext Mobile Brings Enterprise Social Software to SmartPhone Devices

Dynamic Web-based Interface Provides Robust Features of Socialtext For Users to Collaborate From Anywhere at Anytime.

PALO ALTO, Calif., -- Socialtext, the leading provider of Enterprise 2.0 Solutions, today announced the availability of Socialtext Mobile, a web-based mobile version of the Socialtext platform that allows users to connect and collaborate within their workspaces while on the go. Socialtext Mobile provides a seamless user interface (UI) across smartphone devices, allowing for constant connectivity and collaboration. Socialtext Mobile automatically detects when you are logging on from a mobile phone and provides an optimized mobile application. Socialtext Mobile is currently in Beta, with support enabled for Blackberry, iPhone and Android devices.

In today's work environment, employees are increasingly more mobile and often working remotely. People no longer just share, connect and collaborate while at their desks in the office, and therefore employees need to access their work and to their distributed teams at anytime, from anywhere. Socialtext Mobile provides enterprise social software with robust functionality of the Socialtext platform. Features include:

Share insights from the field and always participate in the conversation with private and secure Twitter-like Microblogging
Know what people are working on and sharing with Activity Streams, from anywhere
Connect with your colleagues and click to communicate through Social Networking
Collaborate with colleagues and access your company's content when you need it most with Workspaces

"While mobility needs to be a part of any social media platform, activity streams are particularly well-suited to mobile use," said Gartner Analyst Jeffrey Mann. "They are well-suited to the form factor, and the kind of thing you want to access on the fly."

The benefits of mobile web apps for IT include platform independence and a lower support burden. Socialtext customers can optionally leverage Motorola's Good Mobile Connection to provide secure behind-the-firewall transport to support Socialtext Appliance deployment of Socialtext Mobile.

"Socialtext pioneered Enterprise Mobile Social Software three years ago with Miki the mobile wiki, and have seen distributed teams blossom," said Socialtext President, Chairman & Co-founder Ross Mayfield. "Socialtext Mobile makes the broader Socialtext platform accessible, anytime and anywhere."

Socialtext Mobile is part of Socialtext 3.6, and immediately available to all customers at no additional charge. Simply log into Socialtext using your mobile device.
