Program is Only Award That Allows Fans to Select the Top College Football Player in the Nation Each Week.
Go anywhere college football fans congregate and youre sure to hear one thing debate over who is best. For the sixth consecutive year, AT&T* brings fans opinions into play as they choose the best college football player each week throughout the regular season.
Starting Sunday, Sept. 6, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week by text messaging** VOTE to 345345 on their wireless phones. This is the only national college football award of its kind where the fans who decide which player rules the gridiron.
Each week, a panel of analysts from ESPN will choose four finalists based on the athletes outstanding performance during the previous week. The four candidates will be revealed each Sunday morning on ESPNs SportsCenter, as well as via text message alerts and on the Web at www.espnallamerica.com, and fans have until 11:59 p.m. ET each Wednesday to participate in the voting. The winner will be announced at halftime of the Thursday ESPN College Football Primetime Presented by Applebees.
There is no limit on fan voting, and each vote counts as one entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2010 BCS National Championship game in Pasadena, Calif. Full sweepstakes rules can be found at www.espnallamerica.com/rules.aspx.
College football fans are deeply passionate and extremely knowledgeable, and we could not have built a better, more qualified AT&T All-America Player of the Week judging panel, said Tim McGhee, executive director, AT&T corporate sponsorships. We are proud to once again give fans a voice and bring them closer to the action through the voting as well as handset content that leverages AT&Ts wireless leadership to provide easy, on-the-go access to news, information and exclusive content.
In December, four finalists for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year Award will be announced during a one-hour special on ABC in conjunction with the announcement of the Football Writers Association of America All-America team.
