Europe allowed the 3G-services on 2G-frequencies

The European Commission has authorized the use of spectrum second-generation mobile networks for 3G-services needs. This solution will enable mobile operators to provide advanced services to a large number of subscribers, including those living outside large cities.

Thus, operators will be able to use part of the spectrum of GSM-frequency (900 MHz) for advanced services such as broadband access to the global network. Using 900-MHz range would greatly increase the scope of the residents at a lower level of financial expenses. Thus, the European Commission hopes to accelerate the introduction of advanced wireless networks in the EU.
