TYLER, Texas, -- Saxon Innovations, LLC ("Saxon") today announced it has requested that the International Trade Commission commence an investigation of patent infringement against five electronic manufacturers relating to the unlawful importation of electronic devices. The request cites Nokia, Research In Motion, High Tech Computer, Palm, and Panasonic for patent infringement of Saxon's patent portfolio.
"The ITC filing is a necessary step to ensure that Saxon realizes appropriate value from its licensing program for its portfolio of 180 U.S. patents," said Anthony Grillo, Senior Vice President of Licensing at Saxon. "The ITC action is one of a number of Saxon initiatives instituted to commercialize its portfolio."
Currently, Saxon has a total of eight patents employed in three separate enforcement actions against sixteen defendants in the U.S. District Courts. In addition, Saxon has initiated discussions with manufacturers of printers, cameras, cordless telephones, and global positioning systems. "We are very pleased with the progress of our licensing program and the far reaching scope of Saxon's patent portfolio," said Anthony. A substantial portion of Saxon's patent portfolio originated at AMD. The patents cover a wide range of technologies used in consumer and communication electronic devices.
