The other morning I made the trek to Sullivan Street Bakery way off on 47th St between 10th and 11th Ave. The last time I came to this bakery, they were still located on Sullivan St, a much more convenient location. But I suppose this new location serves to prove just how excellent their products are: customers continue to return over and over again despite the fact that the bakery is a million miles away from the nearest subway station.

I started off this lovely Tuesday morning with an extra crusty raisin roll, spotted with a generous abundance of plump raisins and chopped walnuts. Sooo awesome, with a crusty thick exterior, nutty sweet tender innards, you would have died for a bite! It was hearty. And happy.
Halfway through my roll, I smelled something wonderful. So wonderful that I had to turn my attention away from the roll and towards the bakery counter. And it was a darn good thing I did. Cause you know what I saw?
HOT PIZZA BIANCA! I jumped up (silently) in joy and ecstasy, and bought the very first slice. Wheee! The very first slice! I had an END piece. This must have been a sure sign that it would be a great day indeed. And oh man. It was waay better than I remembered. The slice was so hot, two of my fingers are burn. The top crust to this is amazing stuff, its thin, brushed with olive oil, a sprinkling of sea salt, and rosemary. Its tantalizing.
And once you tear through the top layer, you are quickly rewarded with hot innards, tender and toothsome, elastic enough to demand that you work for your bite, but not insanely hard like some baguettes. Its a little salty, fragrant, and adddddicting beyond words. I finished the darn thing in less than two minutes. If I had waiting any longer, it would have cooled down. And no one wants a cooled Pizza Bianca.
As for the remainder of the raisin roll? Dont worry. I finished the other bit after devouring the Pizza Bianca.
