It looks like a McDonalds promotion for Shrek 3 doesnt it? But nonono, this is from Ala Moanas La Palme DOr! Its their matcha parfait ($3.50), and the ideal, light, Honolulu summertime dessert. Alternating layers of matcha and plain whipped cream, vanilla sponge cake and crushed up macarons, man was it good! It was so hard not to smile and feel all cheerful just looking at this dessert, such happy carefree shades of pastel green and creamy white! They really skimped out on the macarons though, I think there was barely one tiny green matcha macaron, hidden near the bottom. Nonetheless, I took great joy in sinking in my spoon, attempting to get dashes of the two creams, buttery soft cake and macaron crunch into one bite.

The hazelnut chocolate roll was far more beautiful to stare at, but it just didnt have the vibrant spunk of the matcha parfait. A simple, mildly flavored chocolate sponge with hazelnut cream rolled in and dots of toasted hazeulnut halves covering the surface. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the chocolate or hazelnut cream, save for the fact that it was just plain boring, another take on the classic nutella chocolate/hazelnut combo. The toasted hazelnuts themselves were easily my favorite part of the dessert, and I could not help but be slightly letdown by the overall lack of creativity in the roll.
