Ive been going with my mom to work everyday this summer and by default Ive become her temporary assistant. Its quite fun and the best part is that I get to see my mom more often, which wouldnt happen in other cases cause she often stays in the office till 10pm.

This morning we stopped by Boulangerie bakery for breakfast and to pick up a few pastries for a friend.

This little place on South King St is home of Hawaiis first official Korean/French bakery. We have tons of Japanese and Chinese bakeries here, but fall short on the Korean side.

Look at everything they have!

Log cakes

Fried sesame mochi balls

Meringue logs with a puff pastry base

Rum raisin scones and sausage pizza

For our friend we picked up their almond croissant, a rum raisin scone and a peanut bun. I wish I could have taken a little bite out of each...

For our breakfast, we shared the Turtle Bread ($6.50) a massive loaf running about two inches high with thirteen perfect little lumps dusted in a sweet-salty peanutty mix and silvered almonds. And inside...inside lies magic!

Generous poofs and wabbles of heavenly whipped cream, not a tad sweet, with raisins and chopped up chestnuts dash across. Its a sight to see! After eating two lumps, I decided to toast the third.

The cream turned liquid, which you might think would be disgusting, and which if would be, if it didnt soak in to the soft layer of the bottom half, turning the crunchy sweet bread into a crisp shell with buttery cream soaked nibbles. Ahhhh, the glories of bread!
